Invited dress to Crashing the Party

If you want to see Crashing the Party, at Mixed Blood, a comedy which I find highly amusing, we're having free* invited dresses on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. 7:30 start time, I believe. Let me know if you want to check it out. It's only 90 minutes.

*I mean, technically, all MB shows are free under Radical Hospitality so I suppose you could come see it whenever but I encourage you to see it on one of those two days so that you can also see ME and bathe in my presence. And be part of a world premiere premiere! ;)

It's raining goats and monkeys

Me = awesome.

I needed to give it another go with Mom's gravesite. The deer have been eating the hosta and bulbs that I planted there last year so I decided I'd try a peony this time. (The groundskeeper guy at the Oakland Cemetery office said that those plants do well and deer don't eat them.)

It's been threatening rain all day today. It's supposed to be this huge storm in Iowa City. Cats and dogs, goats and monkeys, Weather Girls Raining Men. Around noon I went to Pleasant Valley Nursery and got a peony and some mulch. Then I high-tailed it over to Oakland Cemetery, daring the sky to open up, which it was definitely threatening to do. It was getting darker and grayer and windier, and the groundskeeper even stopped by to tell me to I had about 15 minutes before I got soaked. I got him to check out my work, which he approved of, then I cleaned up JUST as the drops started. I swung by The Cottage deli for a sandwich and while I was driving home it started hailing and pouring and lightening and thunder. It took just two seconds for me to run from my car to the side door of our house and but two seconds was all it took for me to get drenched. But I got the damn peony planted and the gravesite looks tended and that's all that matters. I am awesome. Hear me roar.

Random wish

I LOVE our house. Absolutely love it. However: if and when we ever move to a different house I would like to have a more secluded backyard so that I can enjoy my breakfast and coffee outside in my pajamas, or naked, without fear of being seen by the neighbors.

In other news, I am impatiently waiting for the Star Tribune to stop masturbating over Randy Reyes. I love Randy, too, but christ on a cracker: enough is enough.

Lovely

I saw that Julie & Julia was going to be on tv tonight so I organized dinner around it. I made roast lamb shoulder with garlic and tomatoes and kasha and I sat and watched Meryl Streep and Amy Adams cook their way through the movie. It. Was. Awesome. I needed a night by myself to just chill and recover, I needed some red meat and a good meal, and I've been meaning to watch that movie, which was a delightful film that I now want to own. I feel a little better now. It's nice.

Repeating to myself, over and over

"It's not saving lives, it's just theatre. It's not saving lives, it's just theatre..."

Stress level.... growing.

Kitty's got a brand new bag

Look what I inherited from Tamatha Miller!

It's a raw silk purse. It matches my hat (which is also raw silk). She bequeathed it to me last night. (She just doesn't think she'd wear it anywhere.)

Neat!

Gripe gripe gripe

GAH!!! There is not enough time for me to get done everything I need to get done!!!

And not enough CD sleeves for these CDs I need to burn the cast by tomorrow... dammit.

And my back is hurting again because of a nipple incident. *sigh*

This is the photo we're using for our holiday cards this year

This was Christmas 2002, Mom's last Christmas.

By the way, for those who look close enough you can see that Mom received a Harry Potter book that year. I think it was "Chamber of Secrets" ???
